Hours:              Full Time - 37.5 per week

 

Our client, a well-respected charity who provide support, advocacy and housing to people that are homeless is looking to recruit a Floating Support Worker for their services in Coventry.

 

The services work with families and individuals that are either at risk of losing their homes or are homeless and living in temporary accommodation.

 

Synopsis of duties:

  • Supporting families and individuals that are at risk of eviction or are homeless
  • Key working approximately 15 clients weekly and supporting them with both their practical and emotional needs including safety, housing, benefits, financial, social inclusion, schooling, mental health or substance misuse.
  • Responsible for carrying out initial assessments, risk assessments, devising support plans and liaising with appropriate agencies
  • Supporting clients to complete housing and welfare benefit applications and accompanying clients to various meetings and appointments, working with them to ensure they are tenancy ready.
  • Signposting clients to additional services and agencies including counselling, group programmes (including the Freedom Programme), housing, solicitors etc
  • Facilitating multi-agency and partnership working including social services, schools, specialist support charities and housing departments
  • Attending and facilitating housing support and Family Matters sessions
  • The service operates between 8am and 8pm; you will work on a six-week rolling rota.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven track record of supporting vulnerable children, young people and/ or adults either within an accommodation or community-based service. Preferred experience of working with victims of abuse, homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, children and young people, family support and/ or children’s residential services.
  • Proven track record of successfully carrying and managing your own caseload
  • Strong safeguarding and risk assessments skills and experience
  • Enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months and/ or registered on the DBS Update Service
  • Car Driver with access to a vehicle
