Role: Support Worker

Rate: £9-12 per hour, depending on experience and pay status
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Temporary Ongoing
Hours: Full Time Preferably, to include 1 day over the weekend
Our client, a well-respected charity who provide support, advocacy and housing to people that are homeless are looking to recruit a Support Worker for their service in Coventry.
Synopsis of duties:
- Key working approximately 10 clients weekly and supporting clients with both their practical and emotional needs including safety, benefits, financial, social inclusion, schooling, mental health or substance misuse.
- Responsible for carrying out initial assessments, risk assessments, devising support plans and liaising with appropriate agencies
- Supporting clients to complete housing and welfare benefit applications and accompanying clients to various meetings and appointments, working with them to ensure they are tenancy ready.
- Signposting clients to additional services and agencies including counselling, group programmes (including the Freedom Programme), housing, solicitors etc
- Facilitating multi-agency and partnership working including social services, schools, specialist support charities and housing departments
Essential Requirements:
- Proven track record of supporting vulnerable children, young people and/ or adults either within an accommodation or community-based service. Preferred experience of working with victims of abuse, homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, Children and Young People, Family Support and/ or Children’s Residential services.
- Strong safeguarding and risk assessments skills and experience
- Enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months and/ or registered on the DBS Update Service
- Proven track record of successfully carrying and managing your own caseload
