Child and Family Support Worker

Role:               Child and Family Support Worker

Based:            North Essex

Rate:                  £13 – 15 per hour, depending on experience

Start Date:      ASAP

Duration:        5 months ongoing

Hours:             Full Time

 

Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in Essex, is looking for a Child and Family Support Worker to support children and young people who have been affected by domestic abuse in refuges, play centres and the community.

 

The service provides high quality structured support for children and families including one to one and group work with children and young people (aged 0 to 18), facilitating activities and providing parenting support and programmes to rebuild family bonds and increase resilience.

 

Synopsis of duties:

  • Managing a caseload of children and young people including completing risk and needs assessments (where age appropriate) and address risk, need and immediate safety
  • Ensure safeguarding measures are in place and working closely with Social Services and other partner agencies to ensure the safety of the child/ young person
  • Plan and deliver a range of activities for children and parents encouraging positive parenting and play, engagement and development
  • Liaising with local children’s centres and services and supporting and encouraging mothers and children to access services and activities
  • Providing therapeutic parenting and family support through 121 work and delivering parenting and family groups
  • Working closely with IDVAs and Domestic Violence Workers to ensure the whole family was supported

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of supporting families, children and young people with complex needs and of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • A relevant qualification – Children and Young People/ Family related
  • An understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse/ experience of supporting families affected by abuse would be highly desirable
  • Driving License and assess to a car
  • Current enhanced DBS
