Salary:                     £25,217

Duration:                Permanent 37.5 hours per week

Our client is a specialist Children’s charity based in Manchester looking to recruit an experienced Children & Young Persons with SEND Keworker to offer bespoke support to children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism and their parent/carers enabling families/foster carer families to cope and beyond that to thrive.

The service base in South Manchester offers short respite stays alongside an outreach service to provide holistic support to children, young people, and their parent/carers.

Synopsis of duties

  • Working with children and young people with and without parent/carers to understand fully individual needs and the most appropriate strategies and interventions required.
  • This is a dual role both residential and outreach, providing supporting within the residential respite service and providing outreach offered within the child’s home, school, community setting or residential provision.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience and knowledge of supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and Autism and their families/carers
  • An understanding of positive behavioural support, reducing behaviours of concern through child centred practice, supporting the development of capable environments in settings and the child’s home
  • Team Teach or equivalent desirable
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is desirable. If not currently held you must have the ability to complete within 2 years of employment
  • Trauma informed practice, able to support children and young people where their needs have complexity
  • Good safeguarding practice, knowledge of Signs of safety
  • Ability to work as a member of the team, sharing skills and knowledge to support children and young people to always have high quality support
  • Ability to on a rota basis over a 7 day week to support families to embed strategies within their home or community or within the residential provision
  • Experience of supporting children and young people who use non-verbal means of communication
  • Experience of ensuring children and young people’s views, wishes and feelings are captured and acted upon 
  • Driving license and access to your own vehicle for Outreach Work
