Assistant DA Support Worker

ASSISTANT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT WORKER (NIGHTS)

Role:                       Assistant Domestic Support Worker (Nights)

Based:                    Cheshire  

Start Date:              ASAP

Duration:                 Permanent 22 hours per week

     Wednesday 4.30pm – Thursday 9am (Sleep)

     Saturday 3pm – Sunday 3.30pm (Sleep 11pm – 8am)

Our client is an established charity providing domestic abuse support to women and men and homelessness support to women. Providing supported accommodation and floating support across Cheshire improving the safety and life opportunities of their service users.

Synopsis of duties

  • You will be based within a Women’s Refuge, providing clients with assistance and support as required in a safe and secure environment and assisting them to reach planned goals.
  • Responsible for accepting new referrals and completing move in procedures for new clients
  • Maintaining an understanding and awareness of and adhering to all support plans and risk assessments and to update the Domestic Abuse support worker (DASW) of changes to risk or incidents.
  • The assistant domestic violence support worker is responsible for ensuring the service is delivered to a high standard following policy and procedure paying particular attention to: H&S, Child and Adult Safeguarding and confidentiality practice.

Essential Requirements

  • No specific academic qualification required but must be willing to undertake training as required by Manager.
  • Knowledge of issues relating to and working with vulnerable women and the issues surrounding Domestic abuse
  • Knowledge and ability to assess and respond to child protection and POVA concerns.
  • Ability of working on own initiative, managing time effectively as there will be Lone Working
  • Ability and knowledge to implement needs assessment support plans and providing support in relation to these.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing in a confident and professional manner. 
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and assessing and updating risk assessments
  • Knowledge of mental health, substance misuse issues, knowledge of welfare benefits and relative legislation desirable
