Hours:            9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday one in four Saturday rota taking a non-working day within that week.

Our client, an established domestic violence charity is looking to recruit an Initial Response Team Leader to manage and develop the initial response team (both staff and volunteers) in providing timely, effective, safe, high-quality and consistent initial contact with victims and survivors of domestic abuse across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Synopsis of Duties:

  • Developing and managing a team that keeps the safety and wellbeing of victims and survivors of domestic abuse central to all processes. You will directly manage and maintain a team of Initial Response Officers, Initial Response Volunteers (Public helpline and triage) and Administrators
  • (processing new referrals). You will provide subject matter expertise to support their casework and recording practices.
  • To introduce and monitor arrangements to ensure all requests via helpline are responded to promptly, appropriately and professionally – within service specification timescales.
  • Ensure the appropriate and effective delivery of initial response services, within service specification. Follow all relevant case management processes, risk assessment, safety planning, outcomes monitoring and ensure appropriate referrals to other agencies and MARACs.
  • Recruitment, selection and retention of all staff and volunteer posts within the initial response and administrative team. Including annual appraisals, performance reviews and professional development.
  • To be accountable for the performance of your team against Key Performance Indicators, local plans and performance standards including compliance with national and local operating standards, codes of practice and all legislative requirements. To provide statistical information and reports as required to identify compliance and consistency of service; taking action to improve service where identified.
  • To be accountable for Information Management adhering to Confidentiality Policy and Information Sharing Policies
  • To undertake and maintain DSO training to effectively respond to Safeguarding matters arising across the New Era team
  • To actively engage in New Era management team and support the work of the wider service; including actions within the service improvement and annual business plans

Essential Requirements:

  • Have an excellent and thorough understanding of domestic and sexual abuse including the impact on victims and their children and the legal and practical remedies available to these clients.
  • Understanding of the impact of crime on children and young people and the identification of vulnerability to become a victim of crime.
  • Understanding and knowledge of, and an active commitment to promoting equal opportunities and diversity, including experience of adapting violence and abuse services to meet the needs of diverse individuals and communities
  • Understanding of the Criminal Justice System and the Victims Code
  • Understanding of confidentiality and safe working practice in accordance with safeguarding legislation, General Data Protection Regulation and other legal requirements
  • Understanding of the effects of trauma and the importance of trauma informed practice.
  • Understanding of the voluntary and community sector in the delivery of services to vulnerable people
