Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in the Black Country, is looking for a Sexual Violence Prevention Worker to identify and support vulnerable sex workers/ victims of sexual exploitation, violence abuse, violence and sexual coercion within Sandwell and Dudley. All services are trauma informed and women led.

Synopsis of duties:

  • To be part of a specialist Centre team working to improve the identification of, and response to, sex workers who are/ may be  sexually exploited and/or have experience violence and abuse in Sandwell and Dudley
  • To receive referrals from a variety of agencies where they identify women at risk as well as direct referrals from women who want to explore support and assistance. Where necessary provide advice to the agency to enable/ facilitate engagement as women may also present reluctant for help
  • To conduct risk-assessed visits to indoor venues such as sex work premises, brothels in line with safety procedures and identify patterns or trends of potential exploitation as part of intelligence gathering and/or “building a picture”
  • Assist victims/survivors to make informed choices ensuring they understand their human rights, legal entitlements and other support services available e.g. National Referral Mechanism
  • Report adult and child safeguarding concerns working with women and relevant agencies to protect and keep her, and her family safe. Where appropriate provide support at case conferences, safeguarding discussions and other forums e.g. Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences ensuring the women are informed at all times of actions and decisions
  • Develop networks engaging with partners and communities to build awareness, deliver training of the issues facing women involved in sex work. Encourage disclosure, sharing information and joint discussions and advice. Where appropriate work with targeted communities where sex work is prevalent.

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledge of sex work and sexual exploitation
  • Understanding of trauma informed approaches
  • Knowledge of the Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy and the gendered nature of violence.
  • Have knowledge and experience of applying health and safety, GDPR compliance and management
  • Understanding of diversity and appreciation of culture in working with communities
