Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in the Black Country is looking to recruit a Regional Domestic Abuse Team Senior

Synopsis of duties:

  • To be located on a daily basis within and operational team at a BCWA site where there are IDVA’s and or advocates.
  • To provide daily presence and support giving advice and guidance to immediate issues relating to supporting victims of domestic abuse as the risk is being identified. Making sure phones are answered, quality correspondence is sent, offsite visits are safe and those working at home are delivering the service as expected. Advice and support are related to the dynamics of abuse, appropriate interventions, assessing risk, offsite visits and joint working where appropriate. This list is not exhaustive. It is vital that the operational staff have someone to go to on a daily basis.
  • Observe daily dynamics and practice amongst the support staff to ensure that advice and guidance is delivered against the Operating Procedures, quality standards and policies/procedures of BCWA. Where there are issues these will be raised with the individual and to the manager who will address via supervision and or performance management. Assist support staff where clients present with multiple disadvantage and complexities that may present as barriers to get the right help and support.
  • To maintain a log of all safeguarding issues being dealt with by the support staff and monitor progress, risk and safety plans on a regular basis to ensure appropriate support is being provided. Support staff to prepare for case conferences and observe practice  of support staff at least twice a year when presenting support to other agencies
  • Oversee all cases being presented to MARAC’s across the region to ensure that they meet the required standards for submission. Monitor progress before, during and after to ensure actions are followed up and the victims and systems are updated accurately.
  • Ensure that all support staff are using the operating system of 4site accurately and consistently. Provide advice, support and where necessary training on the use of the system and in particular the standard of case notes and interventions. This will be subject to a quality audit that the post holder will also be involved in.
  • Assist the manager in the preparation of compliance reporting against funds against the reporting schedule and overseeing client feedback and case study submissions.
  • Assist support staff in reviewing cases and presenting cases to close overseeing their submissions and ensuring that caseloads remain manageable.
  • Identify opportunities for joint working with other partners internally to support victims and where necessary allocate clear lines of responsibilities in support plans to ensure all parties know what their role and responsibility is and they are accountable for them. Setting out the “lead professional” parameters and timelines are vital to avoid confusion for the workers and in particular the victim being supported. Where necessary hold lead professional meetings to ensure all parties know what they are responsible for.

Essential Requirements:

  • Educated to minimum Level 3 or equivalent, with a good level of experience in Health and social care, accredited IDVA qualification or similar
  • GCSEs English and Mathematics – Grade C or above
  • If not SafeLives accredited must be willing to undertake relevant study
  • Experience in delivering training (preferably a teaching accreditation or willing to take a teaching accreditation)
  • Experience of supporting & training students, volunteers
  • Experiencing of working within a supportive setting for vulnerable people providing direct support an a  needs led service undertaking risk and needs assessment and support planning
  • Experience in  facilitating group work
  • Experience of working in a professional environment, representing a company/self professionally  and managing a caseload
  • Experiencing of working within a busy office environment with competing demands and being able to prioritise and organize workloads
  • Experience of working within  a supportive setting for vulnerable people, homelessness/destitution managing complex casework, including issues such as child abuse, mental health, substance abuse, working with trauma in adults and children and crisis intervention
  • Experience of working within formal contracting environment delivering/achieving against a specification and performance targets
