Missing from Home Worker (LAC)

Role:                 Missing from Home Worker (Children in Care)

Based:              Greater Manchester – Hybrid Working

Salary:              £16 – 18ph (dependant on experience)

Start Date:       ASAP – May/ June 2025

Duration:         2 months (with the possibility of an extension)

Hours:             28 hours a week

 

Our client, a respected children’s charity, is looking for a Missing from Home Worker to join their Manchester based Service.

 

The organisation is one of the UK’s leading Children’s Charities and provide targeted interventions, support and advocacy to vulnerable children, young people and families.

 

In this role you will be responsible for carrying out return home interviews with children and young people in care, including those who have repeated run away from placement.

 

You will be working to quickly engage and build rapport with the child/ young person, identify the push and pull factors which lead to the child/ young person running away (this can including CSE, County Lines, Drug & Alcohol and various Family related issues), identify any safeguarding concerns and react appropriately, signpost the child/ young person/ carer to additional services and agencies and work closely with a range of partners.

 

You will be attending a range of multi-agency meetings and working closely with a range of partners and services to ensure the child is supported, safeguarded and protected.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children/young people and a proven track record of engaging hard to reach young people
  • Knowledge of/ experience of working with children in care, those at risk (CSE, County Lines, Domestic Abuse, Neglect etc) and/ or mental health/ substance misuse would be highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of child safeguarding
  • Background in one of the following areas would be very beneficial: Youth Work, Family Support, Social Care, Residential Care and Specialist Support (CSE, Gangs and County Lines, CSA, Domestic Abuse etc)
