About the Role
Our client, a well-established specialist charity, is seeking an Intensive Supervision Court Women’s Specialist to join their Women’s Justice Service in Birmingham. The role provides trauma-informed emotional and practical support to vulnerable women involved in the criminal justice system, including those experiencing complex needs such as mental health difficulties, substance misuse and homelessness.
Synopsis of Duties
- Manage a caseload, completing risk and needs assessments, support plans, reviews and outcome monitoring.
- Provide one-to-one emotional and practical support to women throughout their court orders.
- Attend court review meetings and support women to engage with relevant programmes and services.
- Deliver workshops and interventions covering areas such as domestic abuse, healthy relationships, parenting, self-esteem and communication.
- Advocate for women and represent their interests at multi-agency meetings.
- Develop effective partnerships with Criminal Justice, health, housing, employment, education and other relevant services.
- Provide advice and support around female offending, domestic and sexual violence, exploitation, entitlements and referral pathways.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns involving children and vulnerable adults.
- Maintain accurate case records, reports and statistical information.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with vulnerable people and managing a caseload.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, including mental health and/or substance misuse.
- Experience of risk assessment, safeguarding and multi-agency working.
- Experience preparing accurate case notes, reports and professional documentation.
- Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and motivational interviewing.
- Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence, the gendered nature of violence and issues affecting women involved in the criminal justice system.
- Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends where required.
