Rate:                           £12-16phr (dependent upon qualifications)

Qualifications:           SafeLives (previously CAADA) and/ or DAPA is highly desirable

We are recruiting for an experienced Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVA) that will be based within a hospital setting.

 

Synopsis of duties:

  • Provide immediate high-quality trauma informed support and advice to victims of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence.
  • Carrying out risk and needs assessments (including CAADA DASH RIC assessments)
  • Agreeing support and safety plans with the clients
  • Create and provide a detailed discharge plan for those experienced domestic abuse and ensure that this is communicates to the appropriate service and individuals at discharge to reduce the risk or re-admission
  • Multi-agency working including MARAC process
  • Working closely with a range of partners and advocating on client behalf as and when required
  • Identify, develop and deliver training and on-going support to staff at the Trust by introducing frequent Domestic Abuse professional development sessions through a range of methods including briefing sessions, workshops, drop-in sessions. This is with the aim for the NHS staff to be better able to understand domestic abuse and respond appropriately to the needs to of the survivors

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of supporting and advocating on behalf of victims of domestic abuse
  • Knowledge and understanding of the impact domestic abuse and other gender-based violence on survivors and their children
  • Experience of risk assessing, safety and support planning
  • Ability to crisis manage and work well under pressure
  • Strong organisation and diary management skills
  • Proven track record of successfully carrying and managing a high caseload
  • Enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months and/ or registered on the DBS Update Service
