Our client, a leading domestic abuse charity providing support and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse and stalking, are looking for a BAME IDVA to join their team.

 

The role will include delivering a community-based support service to BAMER victims of domestic violence and other forms of gender-based violence.

 

Synopsis of duties:

  • Delivering a community-based support service to BAMER individuals experiencing domestic abuse, honour-based abuse, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, and insecure immigration status
  • Identifying any adult and/or children safeguarding concerns within the service and following organisational safeguarding procedures/policies and reporting these concerns to social services when necessary
  • Working in accordance with the Domestic Abuse Act, ensuring that adult and children’s needs are met, making referrals to Children’s Services if required
  • Conducting CAADA DASH RIC assessments, making referrals to MARAC and providing safety plans
  • Delivering client-led, holistic support to service users, assisting with additional complex needs, such as: housing, legal aid, civil orders, health care, social services, and child support
  • Raising awareness of domestic abuse within the local BAMER community groups and support services
  • Delivering training to both voluntary and statutory sector professionals
  • Carrying a caseload of service users, insuring all their complex needs are met
  • Empowering and supporting survivors, helping them to regain control of their lives and regain independence
  • Supporting high risk service users at court hearings and assisting them through the criminal and civil justice process

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with victims of domestic violence and other forms of gender-based violence
  • Experience working with BAMER communities and understanding their complex needs
  • Experience multi-agency working with other professionals and organisations
  • Experience conducting CAADA DASH RIC assessments, support planning, risk assessing and making referrals to/attending MARAC
  • A strong understanding of adult and child safeguarding
  • Knowledge of the legislation surrounding domestic abuse
