Based: Regional covering Sandwell, Walsall, Dudley and Wolverhampton
Rate: £31697.19 - £34,345 (dependent on experience)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm
Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in the Black Country is looking to recruit a Regional Children’s Services Manager The Children and Young Peoples Manager will join a team of experienced managers (both domestic abuse and rape and sexual violence) located within the directorate and will be responsible for managing an expanding team of children and young people support workers delivering services against specific projects/ specifications and meeting agreed KPS’s and performance targets.
Synopsis of duties:
- To be responsible for the delivery of an effective and safe children and young person’s service in accordance with the specifications and funding and funder requirements.
- Assist in the development of new opportunities to support children and young people by identifying gaps and needs in current provisions
- Maintain and build positive relationships with partners across the region promoting the “children’s offer”. Undertake presentations, attend events to promote/explain the work, the impact abuse has on children the benefits of support and seeking opportunities to integrate with local systems.
- Recruit, induct and support the children and young people’s team to deliver evidence based support services to children and young people and that interventions and support are delivered in a professional, timely and risk managed way that safeguards children at all times.
- Facilitate the development of support workers knowledge and practical application where there are complex/multi-dimensional issues, such as; language barriers, cultural misunderstandings/stereotypes, neurodiversity, learning difficulties, mental health issues, substance misuse. In order to develop accurate support and intervention plans.
- Where appropriate develop approaches to support/liaise with non-abusing parents and their children ensuring that their actions and support are client-led.
- Develop and deliver training programmes to agencies, and parents to increase their awareness of issues affecting children and young people living with/ experienced domestic abuse. Encourage and develop skills within the team to take part in the development and delivery of training sessions
- Oversee the referral system and allocate to support workers overseeing the team’s case management. This includes ensuring that case notes are client focused, accurately written within agreed timescales and adhere to GDPR and safeguarding procedures.
- Attend professional and partnership meetings representing the service and its work e.g. child protection conferences, team around the child sharing information as appropriate.
- Manage and support the team to be active members of multi-agency networks and meetings, maintaining good communications with referrers and other professionals involved. Where necessary the Manager will act as the lead professional when working with other agencies.
- Work as part of the Community Services Management Team to ensure the smooth daily running of the Community Services Directorate and support the Community Services Director to implement the Directorate Strategic Plan.
- Ensure that all support workers have/maintain a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding. Monitor all safeguarding concerns and audit actions for senior management assurance and compliance.
- Manage/oversee the standard of written work including reports, case closures, needs assessments and support plans, referrals to other agencies, record keeping and court reports.
- Ensure accurate inputting of data onto IT systems for data and analytical purposes and, where necessary, extract information from the system to evidence work performance as part of supervisions/appraisals and other human resource processes.
- Provide supervision and line management to the team, hold regular team meetings, staff briefings, undertake regular supervision case reviews and audit of work eg dip sampling and ensure that reflective practice takes place.
- Ensure that there is a proactive and planned diary of group interventions and that all the necessary administration and evaluation is in place for analysis and impact.
- Understand the commissioning requirements of each contract/agreement and work with the Performance Officer to meet them through information recording and data gathering.
- Ensure that the on and offsite working arrangements meet health and safety requirements
Essential Requirements
- IDVA qualification and/or direct experience of working in domestic/sexual violence
- Qualification or training equivalent to minimum level 3 education standard in a relevant topic, such as health and social care
- Experience of safeguarding children, identifying concerns and responding appropriately.
- Direct experience of working with children who are victims of domestic abuse in a professional capacity
- Experience of managing complex casework, including issues such as child abuse, mental health, substance abuse, working with trauma in adults and children and crisis intervention
- Experiencing of working within a supportive setting for vulnerable people, providing direct support and a needs led service, undertaking risk and needs assessments and support planning, using a variety of intervention tools.
- Experience of taking referrals for services, gathering information regarding the victim and their circumstances, assessing the information, agreeing needs and identifying risk, understanding the right service to refer on to
- Experience of supporting/supervising staff, students and volunteers.
- Experience of working within a formal contracting environment delivering/achieving against a specification and performance targets
- Experience of working/liaising within a multiagency setting with a range of stakeholders and representing clients/organization at external meetings.
- Experience of preparing accurate reports for formal settings such as MARAC, case conferences or similar proceedings.
