Role:                Project Worker – Substance Misuse

Location:         Torbay

Hours:             1 x Full Time, 9-5 Mon to Fri 1 x Part time 18.75 hours

Rate:                £29855

Contract:         Until end March 2025 with 1 year plus extension subject to funding

Our client, a leading children's charity, is looking for a Project Worker to contribute to the overall provision of services for young people who misuse substances in the Torbay area.

Synopsis of Duties:

  • To ensure that all young people in contact with the service are assessed and treated for identified drug/alcohol problems.
  • To contribute to the overall provision of services for young people who misuse substances in the Torbay area.
  • To work with individual young people who misuse substances and their families, including young people identified by the YOT Team, and to act as a consultant to other professionals who may require specialist help and support.
  • To work across agency boundaries delivering a service to both the statutory and third sector.
  • To provide a comprehensive and flexible assessment service to young people and care planned treatment.
  • To provide accessible information, advice and support on issues related to substance misuse.
  • To deliver individually tailored and evidence based group work programmes where appropriate.
  • To deliver relevant drug prevention and harm minimisation strategies to all referred young people

 Essential Requirements

  • Social Work degree or equivalent OR Relevant professional qualification e.g. Youth & Community, Education or NVQ 3 Health & Social Care Or HNC in Social Care or Early Years 3 NVQ3 Health & Social Care.
  • 2 years relevant experience working with young people
  • Knowledge of substance misuse (drugs and alcohol) and awareness of national and local initiatives
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice process, specifically in relation to young people.
  • Knowledge of child/adolescent development and young person centred interventions
  • Understanding of confidentiality, consent and data protection requirements within service provision for children and young people.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of relevant health and social care legislation
  • Understanding of the short and longer term impact of adverse childhood experiences on the individual
  •  
  • Enhanced Adult and Child DBS on the update service
